OnePlus 13 is touted to be one of the first phones to launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip.
OnePlus 13 unofficial render
OnePlus flagships are revered in the world of Android smartphones, especially among enthusiasts who value premium design, cutting-edge hardware, and a seamless software experience, all at a competitive price.
The brand’s next flagship––OnePlus 13––is anticipated to debut by the end of 2024, and is expected to be one of the most advanced Android smartphones available.
Here’s what we know so far about the upcoming OnePlus 13:
Design, display, and form factor
Leaks suggest the OnePlus 13 will closely follow the design language of the OnePlus 12, featuring a large circular camera island on a premium glass-metal sandwich design.
OnePlus flagships have been using curved OLED panels since the OnePlus 7 Pro. This time around, the OnePlus 13 is speculated to incorporate a quad-curved display, similar to the Honor 200 Pro we recently reviewed. This quad-curved screen is expected to enhance the phone’s premium look while addressing issues like ghost touch and ensuring a higher screen-to-body ratio with thinner bezels.
In line with OnePlus’s standards, the OnePlus 13 will likely sport a large 6.7/6.8-inch 2K display with at least a 120 Hz refresh rate. This display is anticipated to be brighter and more colour-accurate than its predecessor, and will possibly have the latest version of Corning Gorilla Glass.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB storage
In terms of performance, the OnePlus 13 will be a powerhouse. The OnePlus 13 will be one of the first smartphones to launch with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip, possibly with up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage. Qualcomm has already confirmed that the next-generation flagship Snapdragon 8 series chip will feature an Oryon-architecture-based CPU, similar to the Snapdragon X Elite chips, and is expected to deliver great single-core and multi-core CPU performance.
Camera
The triple camera system on the OnePlus 13 is expected to be very similar to the OnePlus 12 (review), featuring a 50 MP primary sensor, a 64 MP 3x telephoto lens, and a 48 MP ultrawide camera. Despite similar hardware, the improved processing should enhance the camera performance of the OnePlus 13.
OnePlus 12 is available in two colour options
BatteryLastly, the OnePlus 13 is said to come equipped with a 6,000 mAh battery, the biggest battery ever featured on a OnePlus smartphone, possibly with support for at least 100W fast charging. However, OnePlus 13 might miss out on wireless and reverse wireless charging support, suggested a report by Digital Chat Station.
The OnePlus 13 is most likely to ship with Android 15-based OxygenOS 15 with several new customisation features, and just like the newly-introduced Nord 4, the OnePlus 13 is expected to get at least four years of software updates and six years of security patches.
The flagship smartphone is expected to cost upwards of Rs 60,000 in India, and is likely to be available in multiple storage variants. If everything goes as speculated, OnePlus should introduce its next flagship in November or December this year.
